Moscow. Farid akbarov – APA. “Russia can not and is not going to impede the European Union’s negotiations with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on the legal framework of the Trans-Caspian project that will start this month,” Russian political analyst, Director General of the Caspian Cooperation Institute Sergey Mikhiyev told APA’s Moscow correspondent.

According to the political analyst, Russia’s position is obvious.
“The Caspian subsea pipeline can be constructed only with the consent of the five Caspian states. This project can be realized, if the Caspian states give consent. Russia simply wants consultations to be held with it and the permission of Moscow is obtained,” he said.

Mikhiyev says Nabucco project has not been realized because of financial problems. According to him, funds have not been found for the realization of the project.
“If there had been funds and Turkmenistan had supplied the pipeline with necessary gas, the project would have been realized. This project does not depend on Russia’s desire. The main thing is that there are no funds. If there had been funds, the project would have been realized,” he said.
