Baku-APA. U.S. and Russia should pursue a cautious and sensitive policies in the South Caucasus region, political scientist, former analyst of CIA and Department of State, publicist Paul Goble said, APA reports.

"The U.S. and Russia should pursue a cautious and sensitive policies in the South Caucasus, as the South Caucasus is of interest to both countries," Paul Goble said today during the video-bridge Moscow-Baku-Washington titled "Russia-Azerbaijan-United States in the context of multi-vector policy", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence, which is celebrated on Oct. 18.

According to him, Russia and the U.S. should not compete, but cooperate in the South Caucasus.

"It is important that Russia and the U.S. competed and cooperated in the South Caucasus. From this perspective, it is important that Russia recognized the interests of the United States in the South Caucasus, and the U.S. recognize Russia’s interests in the region "- said Goble.

American political scientist, said that if the powers would "represent their interests in the South Caucasus as an exclusive, it will only lead to conflict between the two countries".
