Azerbaijan, Colombia hold political consultations

The diplomats stressed the role of mutual high-level visits in the development of relations and exchanged opinions about the regional and international issues, which gain mutual interests. The sides emphasized that there is large potential for the development of bilateral relations and both countries are interested in extension of relations in the political, economic, energy, humanitarian fields. Khalafov informed his Colombian counterpart about the large-scale energy projects implemented in the country, and the region.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister also informed the Colombian diplomat about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the process of its settlement. He said Azerbaijan attached importance to the relations with Colombia and emphasized the necessity of deepening the current relations. The sides expressed satisfaction with the Azerbaijani-Colombian cooperation within the framework of the international organizations. Khalafov thanked Colombian side for its support for Azerbaijanâ€™s candidacy for UN Security Councilâ€™s non-permanent membership in 2012-2013.

Mrs. Patti Londono Jaramillo said Colombia appreciated the current potential of Azerbaijan and large-scale projects carried out by the country and said her country was interested in the comprehensive development of relations with Azerbaijan and specially the development of energy cooperation.
