Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “The document released in PACE on recognition of “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” as an independent country is not a document of the Council of Europe, that document reflects the personal positions of MPs who signed it”, Head of Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov told APA.

“The same MPs have signed the same document for 3rd time. Such a document appeared several years ago. The Council of Europe has various documents and this document is a document which belongs to people whose signatures are gathered. It is not a document of the Council of Europe. The Armenian side deliberately presents this document in order to confuse the people”.

According to Seyidov, such initiatives are an indication of existing double standards in the Council of Europe: “Such initiatives show that the double standards are still remaining in the Council of Europe. The organization, which speaks about democracy and human rights on one side, is engaged on the other side in gathering signatures on supporting the separatist organization, which carried out illegal ethnic cleansing. It proves again that it is needed to proof Armenia’s deconstructive position to European MPs and politicians at every session, every meeting”.

32 MPs of the PACE signed a document on the recognition of “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” as an independent country within PACE’s autumn session. 10 of the signers are from France, PACE’s co-rapporteur for Armenia also signed this document.
