Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. “Armenia resounds to the world that Azerbaijan attaches much attention to the armament. Today there are 48884 personnel in the Armenian armed forces and 45000 Armenian troops were deployed in the occupied Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. Together it is more than 93000. According to the commitment undertaken in 1992, Azerbaijan has 70000 personnel”, said second secretary of the Security Problems Office of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elchin Huseynli in his speech at the international conference entitled “Building bridges over borders” organized by GUAM Parliamentary Assembly and Baltic Assembly in Baku, APA reports.

The diplomat said that the weapon purchased by Azerbaijan is directed to the protection of energy infrastructure: “Armenia groundlessly accuses Azerbaijan of breaking arms equation in the region. But the analysis of the state budgets shows that Armenia has more militarization. Last year Armenia purchased 16000, previous year – 78000 “Kalashnikov” guns. Why do they need in so many weapons? It shows that Armenia prepares to war, but not the peace”.

Huseynli said that Latvian “Latpeceksports” company was involved in arms deal with Armenia. He addressed the MPs of the Baltic Assembly and called them to investigate this issue.
