John Kyaer: “Azerbaijan-EU talks on associative agreement are on the point of finishing”

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Azerbaijan and European Union are on the point of finishing the final round of the negotiations on associative agreement, John Kyaer, head of the EU Eastern Partnership department, EU negotiator, APA reports.

“This is a final round of the Azerbaijan-EU talks on associative agreement. We organize plenary meetings, meetings of the working groups, video-conferences within the negotiations. The talks are going on today, but I consider that we have reached significant progress in the negotiation process”.

John Kyaer didn’t give details when the negotiations will be finished and associative agreement will be signed. He emphasized that the eastern Partnership summit in Warsaw was successful. “Eastern Partnership is very good political frame for our cooperation. Our talks with Azerbaijan on the associative agreement and significant progress reached in this direction show that good relations were established between Azerbaijan and EU”.

The next round of Azerbaijan-EU negotiations on the associative agreement has been started in Baku yesterday. Azerbaijani delegation in the negotiations is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmoud Mammadguliyev.
