Within the framework of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, a panel session titled “From Destruction to Revival: Urban Narratives and Media Responsibility” was held, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
The session was moderated by Orkhan Amashov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of AnewZ TV.
Speaking at the panel, Yusuf Özhan, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Anadolu Agency, said that combating disinformation requires great responsibility.
He noted that a large amount of disinformation had also circulated following the earthquakes in Türkiye's Kahramanmaraş region.
Yusuf Özhan stressed that professional journalism plays a vital role in preventing such cases and minimizing the spread of disinformation.
He also emphasized that Azerbaijan's support for the reconstruction of Kahramanmaraş is well known.
"Following the earthquake, the Azerbaijani government remained true to the tradition of brotherhood by making its contribution. Journalists, in turn, bear great responsibility for covering the reconstruction process and preserving these historic events for future generations," he added.
Speaking at the panel, Rufat Hamzayev, Executive Director of AnewZ TV, said significant progress and changes could be observed at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum compared to the first forum.
"The forum's main objective is to contribute to preserving the truth," he said.
Hamzayev noted that reconstruction is, above all, about human stories, and the media must cover this process responsibly.
"In addition to documenting destruction, the process of recovery must also be presented to the public objectively and professionally. While destruction has a powerful emotional impact, reconstruction is a more complex and long-term process. The media's responsibility is to document this process accurately and preserve it for future generations," he said.
The panel session continued with a question-and-answer segment.
