Deputies for Independence condemn Iranian General Staff Chiefâ€™s statement

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. A group of Deputies for Independence gathered at the headquarters of the Civil Solidarity Party to approve the plan of events on the occasion of the anniversary of restoration of the Azerbaijanâ€™s independence, APA reports.

The deputies also issued a statement condemning the recent statement made by the Iranian General Staff Chief Hasan Firuzabadi.

â€œThe latest statement by chief of the Iranâ€™s Armed Forces General Staff Hasan Firuzabadi is in contradiction with the norms of the international law. It was directed against the sovereignty of Azerbaijan and is continuation of the dangerous anti-Azerbaijan propaganda. Such statement is unbecoming to the state official. Some of the Iranian government officials and news agencies questioned the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan many times, they are trying to interfere in the domestic affairs of Azerbaijan and threateningâ€, the deputies said.

Deputies for Independence strongly condemned this position and called on the Iranian officials to avoid such irresponsible statements. â€œSuch irresponsible statements, which are in contradiction with the norms of the international law, seriously damage on the Iranian-Azerbaijani relations and create negative opinion of the Azerbaijani community about the Iranian authoritiesâ€.

Deputies for Independence demand serious comments on the Firuzabadiâ€™s statement. â€œIranian top officials have to apologize to the Azerbaijani people for this statement and to clarify this issue, because Firuzabadi is the state official and army general. Iranian leadership should realize the responsibility for this statement. Playing with feelings of the two historically neighbor peoples can cause painful resultsâ€.
