"Azerbaijan is one of the key countries in this region," President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini said in a joint press statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Shusha, APA reports.
"I would like to confirm that the partnership between Slovakia and Azerbaijan is not merely formal, and that our countries do not simply maintain ordinary diplomatic relations. Rather, we are truly friendly states. We are friends who have much to offer one another, and we are transforming our excellent relations into concrete projects and real cooperation. I am pleased that distinguished members of the Slovak government are part of my delegation. Today and tomorrow, they will have the opportunity to discuss specific issues with their Azerbaijani counterparts, government members and ministers in the areas that you, Mr. President, have mentioned.
I am also pleased that the governors of our countries' central banks and ministers are here as well. They, too, have important issues to discuss.
Mr. President, I would like to thank you for the open and sincere dialogue between us, as well as for your openness. This is exactly how relations between the heads of friendly states should be built.
Slovakia pursues a pragmatic foreign policy and wants to have partners and friends in all regions of the world. I am very pleased that Azerbaijan is among those friendly countries.
