Azerbaijan sends note to Iran

Baku – APA. Azerbaijan sent a note to Iran in a protest against the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff Chief Seyid Hasan Firuzabadi’s improper ideas about the authority and people of the Republic of Azerbaijan published by Iran’s FARS news agency. On Thursday, Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mahammadbagir Bahrami was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. Press service of the ministry told APA the note of protest was submitted to the ambassador by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Nadir Huseynov.

In the note, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed protest against the irresponsible slanders by the Iranian official and emphasized that information directed against the people and state of Azerbaijan, against its national interests and security, distortion of its domestic and foreign policy are contradiction with the friendship and mutual understanding between the countries and their mutual commitments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded Iranian side to prevent such unkindly statements against Azerbaijan, to take relevant measures in a short time to prevent such steps in the future and to clarify above-mentioned issue.
