PACE President Mevlut Chavushglu: â€œThe purpose of the Council of Europe subcommittee on Karabakh problem is to make the parliament diplomacy to come to actionâ€

He said parliamentarians from 11 OSCE Minsk Group member countries would work together with the delegations of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the subcommittee. â€œWe will discuss what we can do for a dialogue and solution to the conflict. The existed problems are clear. We donâ€™t need to discuss them and we will start from the point what we can do for the solution to the conflict. Our purpose is to contribute to the solution to the conflict with the parliament diplomacyâ€.

Regarding non-fulfillment of the Council of Europe resolution 1416 by Armenia, Chavushoglu said the resolutions of the Council of Europe would be on the subcommitteeâ€™s agenda.

Chavushoglu spoke about the so-called â€œArmenian genocideâ€ as well. He said decisions on the historic issues couldnâ€™t be made by the politicians. â€œThe historic issues should be investigated by the historians, commissions and they have to make it clear and to pass decisions. The politicians have no much historic knowledge. We are not the experts and not working with the archives. There is an agreement between Armenia and Turkey that this issue should be investigated by the historians. It is not correct for the politicians to bring this issue to agenda. This is my view, as PACE President and ordinary citizenâ€.
