Ankara Beypazari municipality to build memorial for victims of Khojaly Genocide

Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. The memorial for victims of Khojaly Genocide will be built in Beypazari municipality of Ankara, Turkey. The mayor of municipality welcomed the Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva’s proposal during the visit of Azerbaijani female lawmakers to Turkey, APA reports. Pashayeva informed the Turkish municipality officials about the genocide committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijanis during the occupation of Azerbaijani town of Khojaly. She said it was important for the Turkish municipalities, including Beypazari to recognize the Khojaly Genocide officially.

Beypazari mayor welcomed this idea and said in near future the municipality would recognize the Khojaly Genocide and would realize the project of genocide memorial. He positively accepted other proposal of Azerbaijani lawmaker to name one of the Beypazari streets after Azerbaijan. He said in near future one of the streets would be named “Azerbaijan”.

The municipality mayor said they loved Azerbaijan and were interested to develop relations with friendly and brother Azerbaijan in the highest level. He emphasized the importance of development cooperation between the regions of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Ganira Pashayeva said some of the regions of Azerbaijan were fraternized with the provinces of Turkey, for example Azerbaijan’s Tovuz Region and Ankara’s Kechioren municipality. She proposed to fraternize Beypazari with Tovuz and other municipalities of Azerbaijan. The Beypazari mayor welcomed this idea and said the parts should strengthen their efforts for that.

Beypazari is one of the historic places of Ankara, frequently visited by tourists and high-ranking guests.
