Plan to hold Turkey-Armenia football match in Kayseri causes protest

The local department of Turk Egitim Sen (Union of Turkish Educators) launched signature collection campaign protesting against the match and the reopening of borders with Armenia. Other NGOs also supported the campaign. Chief of Kayseri department of Turk Egitim Sen Ali Ihsan Ozturk said the signatures would be collected within 15 days and sent to Turkish Parliament and Turkish Football Federation.
Turkey-Armenia football match will take place on October 14. Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian will also watch the match at the invitation of Turkish President Abdullah Gul. The Football Federation plans to hold the match in the newly-established stadium in Kayseri, the native city of Abdullah Gul.
