Shukru Elekdag: â€œWe cannot expect any results from OSCE Minsk Group in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflictâ€

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. â€œIn order to claim genocide it is necessary to put forward evidences and this should be demanded in accordance with the international law. Azerbaijan should do so for the recognition of Khojaly genocide in the international arena,â€ member of Turkish parliament from Republican Peopleâ€™s Party (CHP) Shukru Elekdag said at the press conference on the outcomes of the forum â€œTurkey-Azerbaijan: common interests and problemsâ€ in the parliament, APA reports. He clarified why Turkish parliament had not given legal assessment to Khojaly genocide and said it was nonsense to regard an event as genocide without the decision of the court.

Appreciating the resolutions of the international organizations, including UN, on the release of Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani territories, Elekdag noted the necessity of taking steps for their execution.
â€œAction should start from this point. When the UN General Assembly was adopting the resolution on the situation in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries Russia, France and US voted against the document. Thatâ€™s why we can not expect any results from OSCE Minsk Group in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Turkeyâ€™s economic pressure on Armenia continues, as the borders remain closed. If the borders with Armenia are reopened under present circumstances, it will cause armed conflict,â€ he said.

The diplomat also expressed his views on Nabucco gas pipeline.
â€œThere will be no Nabucco without Azerbaijan. We see that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to this project,â€ he said.

Elekdag said Azerbaijan was the most developed state among the countries that gained their independence after the collapse of the USSR.
â€œAzerbaijan is becoming the leader of the region. There are shortcomings in every country. We also have problems. But Azerbaijan is on the right way. This country will shine like a star,â€ he said.
