Russia has not defaulted on its Eurobond obligations, CNN information is not true, according to site Ministry of Finance, APA reports.
“The illegal actions of American banks and the US government, which stopped making payments to Russia in foreign currency, blocked the receipt of payments due to some foreign investors,” the ministry said. To protect the rights of investors, the necessary amounts in rubles are reserved in the Russian depository. The Ministry of Finance also believes that obstacles to the repayment and servicing of public debt in foreign currency are artificially created.
The head of the Ministry of Finance, Anton Siluanov, threatened that Russia would go to court if the West declared a default on the country on default on Eurobonds.
