Azerbaijan records $47.2 million surplus in tourism services

In the first six months of 2026, the turnover of mutual tourism services decreased by 14.7% to $1.4 billion, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said, APA-Economics reports.

During the reporting period, tourism services generated a surplus of $47.2 million, with exports totaling $747.8 million and imports amounting to $700.6 million.

During this period, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 5.1%, while the number of foreign citizens visiting Azerbaijan fell by 10.3%.

The volume of tourism-related services provided by foreign countries to residents of Azerbaijan amounted to $700.6 million. Of this, 75.9% was related to personal trips made by Azerbaijani citizens, excluding funds spent on the import of goods.

During the reporting period, construction services provided to non-residents in the non-oil and gas sector amounted to $3.9 million. Other business services paid to non-residents in the non-oil and gas sector increased by 4.9% to reach $1.2 billion.

The surplus in transport services increased by 9.9% to $941.1 million. In the first six months of 2025, the surplus in transport services stood at $856.4 million. This trend indicates that transport services have become a stable item contributing positively to the services balance.
