Germany may take a stake in Opel to separate it from ailing parent

Bakuâ€“ APA-Economics. German state governments may buy a stake in General Motors Corp.â€™s Opel unit in a rescue effort to separate the German automaker from its ailing parent, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung said, citing unidentified people from the government in Dusseldorf, Bloomberg reports.
GM and Opel have been negotiating a separation for weeks, the newspaper said. Ruesselsheim-based Opelâ€™s future is only secure if itâ€™s separated from GM, said Klaus Franz, head of the carmakerâ€™s works council, according to the newspaper.
