Azerbaijan posts 5-fold growth in foreign trade

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with 135 nations during January-September totaled $44.2 million, including exports of $39 billion (88.2%) and imports of $5.2 billion (11.8%), said the State Statistical Committee.
The trade surplus was $33.8 billion.
Compared to the same period last year, foreign trade turnover rose 5.4 times, imports rose 33.8% and exports increased by 9-fold.
Azerbaijan carried out 53% of the trade with the European Union, 6.8% with the CIS countries and 40.2% with other countries.
The country did 59.1% of the trade with Europe, 25.1% with Asia, 15.3% with Americas, 0.5% with Africa and 0.03% with Oceania.
The country’s main trade partners in imports and exports (81.3%) included Turkey, Italy, the United States, Israel, India, France, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and Chile.
