Azerbaijan to earn more than $1 billion from tourism next year

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan is expected to generate more than $1 billion from tourism next year, said Abulfaz Garayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism.
According to him, more than 1 million tourists arrived in Azerbaijan.
He added that there will be arrivals in 2009 because Baku was declared the capital of Islamic countries.
He noted that there will be about 50 000 tourism sites in a few years and this will allow accommodating 1.5 million to 2 million tourists a year.
