The issue of reducing Tehran's missile program is not mentioned in the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran and was not discussed by the parties, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated, APA reports.
"I can state with complete confidence that the [US-Iran] memorandum of understanding does not mention ballistic missiles. This issue was never discussed, it was never on the agenda, and the Iranian side did not want to discuss it," Sharif said following talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Islamabad.
The Pakistani Prime Minister also called demands on Tehran to curtail its ballistic missile program unfair given the presence of such weapons in other countries in the region.
"I want to make it crystal clear that ballistic missiles cannot be a matter of double standards," he said. Sharif said it was unfair to insist that "some countries can have ballistic missiles and Iran cannot."
