The 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, held under the patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, concluded successfully in Baku on June 19, the Ministry of Economy told APA-Economics.

Held under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity,” the event marked an important milestone in advancing cooperation among IsDB Group member states.

As a result of the meetings, 67 agreements worth a total of $6 billion were formalized with 10 member states, regional institutions, and private sector partners.

The four-day Annual Meetings brought together more than 4,400 participants from 78 countries, including heads of 46 organizations, policymakers, development experts, private sector leaders, and representatives of academia. Within the framework of the event, 32 high-level meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions were organized, focusing on key global challenges such as trade, energy, food security, digital transformation, connectivity, climate action, and private sector development.

In his closing remarks, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov expressed deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his patronage and comprehensive support for the Annual Meetings, noting that it reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and promoting shared prosperity among IsDB member states. He also thanked IsDB Group President Muhammad Al Jasser for the partnership and emphasized that the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity” fully aligns with Azerbaijan’s role as a bridge connecting regions, markets, and cultures.

Assessing the outcomes of the 2026 Annual Meetings in Baku, Jabbarov highlighted the significance of the $436 million financing agreement signed between the IsDB and Azerbaijan for the Karabakh Irrigation Canal Reconstruction Project. The project was described as a transformative investment that will strengthen water security, boost agricultural recovery, and create a solid foundation for long-term sustainable living conditions in the region.

President of the IsDB Group Muhammad Al Jasser expressed sincere appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev for his patronage of the meetings, as well as to the Azerbaijani government and people for their hospitality and high-level organization. Al Jasser also said he was deeply honored to receive Azerbaijan’s prestigious “Dostlug” Order, describing it as recognition of the dedication and efforts of the entire IsDB Group team. He further praised the leadership of Mikayil Jabbarov, Chairman of the IsDB Board of Governors, for steering discussions toward practical outcomes.

Al Jasser also noted that the IsDB approved a new financing package worth $2.8 billion for nine transformative projects in nine member states, aimed at strengthening connectivity, energy security, food systems, Islamic finance, climate resilience, and several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The next IsDB Group Annual Meetings will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under the chairmanship of Burkina Faso, bringing together development partners and stakeholders once again to advance shared development goals.
