The allocation of funds for Iran's reconstruction will depend on the resolution of security issues, and American government financing is not envisaged for this capital investment, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi (UAE) as part of his Middle East tour, APA reports.
"This is far in the future. This is part of a discussion about what might happen if Iran, its leadership, decides that they want to be a country, not a revolutionary movement that exports terror," he asserted in a conversation with journalists, commenting on the prospects of Middle Eastern Arab countries participating in the creation of an investment fund for Tehran's benefit.
"I'm saying that if they make this choice, there will be opportunities. And these opportunities could include investment. Just as other countries in the region have benefited from investment, foreign direct investment," Rubio noted. "These won't be our investments, but our government's money. And this will depend on progress on a number of security issues that will have to be addressed in the coming days," the US Secretary of State said.
