 Azerbaijan kicks off international conference on fighting corruption -  <font color=red>UPTADED </font>

The two-day conference is organized by Azerbaijan Chamber of Auditors and the Union of Economists.
Representatives from international organizations and financial institutions and audit firms and government agencies from 16 countries have joined the conference.
Ramiz Mehdiyev, Head of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, delivered congratulations to the participants on the behalf of the head of state.
He added that Azerbaijan has made great strides in fighting corruption and set up a legal framework for this.
“Azerbaijan is a country with the most stable and dynamic growth in the South Caucasus and initiated major economic projects in this region. Azerbaijan joined and became an active player in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI),” he noted.
Ziyad Samadzade, Chairman of the parliament commission for economic policy, mentioned reforms and achievements the country made over the recent years. He added that efforts in fighting corruption have been yielding good results.
Jonas Moberg, Head of the EITI International Secretariat, said that Azerbaijan’s practice of using oil revenues has set an example for other nations.
He added that Azerbaijan has achieved to establish such a system as part of the EITI.
Fazil Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Taxes, spoke of tax inspection, anti-corruption measures in tax collection, mentioning that the ministry established an Automated Tax Information System, telephone inquire service (195) and online application and compliant form to ensure transparency.
The participants of the conference adopted an appeal to the President of Azerbaijan.
