Baku hosts conference on economic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Today, a conference on economic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey has started in Baku. According to APA-Economics, several state bodies from Azerbaijani sides and the delegation led by Metin Eker, chief of head department of foreign economic relations, State Planning Organization of Turkey attend the conference.

Head of the Administration of the Economic Development Ministry Samir Valiyev spoke about achievements as the result of economic development strategy and noted that the main macroeconomic performances increased, repeatedly. He noted that, share of Azerbaijan’s economy in South Caucasus region made 71%.

About relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, S. Valiyev stated that, 1000+ Turkish companies operated in the country, at present and their investments in economy had reached $ 2bln, since 2002. This is the highest index among the countries investing capital in Azerbaijan’s economy. At the same time, the trade turnover between 2 countries makes $ 1 bln.

He also spoke about the join projects of Azerbaijan and Turkey. HE appreciated Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines and construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

M. Eker noted that, the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey were closed and he hoped these relations would be developed.

Conference will last until April 30.
