Baku - APA-Economics. Budget cuts will cause the sacking of about 5-8 percent of civil servants paid from the state budget, Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas told the commercial television station Prima Saturday, Prague Daily Monitor reported.

Necas said within the planned 10-percent savings, two extreme attitudes could be adopted. Either the civil servants’ salaries will be cut by 10 percent in an across-the-board fashion, or the staff will be reduced by 10 percent and the remaining employees will keep the level of their salaries.

"I would say that it will be some 5-8 percent of all the persons paid from the state budget," Necas said.

Necas said that from the viewpoint of state budget, the 10-percent were appropriate and correct

Necas dismissed the trade unions’ view that the cuts in salaries and staff might destabilise the civil service.

It would be up to the managerial abilities of ministers and their team to keep quality staff, he added.

"If expenditures on salaries and payment to social and health insurance are considered, this amounts to 180 billion crowns from the state budget," Necas said.

The budget bill for 2011 will be on the agenda of the Chamber of Deputies’ session in October.
