Baku-APA. Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan warned here on Thursday that financial problems in Greece might affect Turkey, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency .
Speaking at the Forum Istanbul 2010 meeting on the global crisis, he said "we aren’t focusing on Greece for naught. We know that Greece’s problem will eventually affect Europe, and a European slow down will hurt our exports."
He added that other problems that might arise will hurt Turkey.
He said it was essential that Turkey start making long-term plans, particularly with financial rules. "With their application in 2011 there will be a whole new initiative in the Turkish financial system."
"Our goal by 2023 is to make Turkey one of the top 10 economies of the world," Babacan added.
"In 15 to 20 years, it is not hard to envision Turkey being on par with whatever economic power Germany has today," he said.
Turkey will have more responsibility on its shoulders regarding global developments, he added.
