Azerbaijan’s budget surplus rises sharply in first quarter

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s state budget revenue was AZN 2 446 200 for January-April, expenditurewas AZN 1 979 100. Budget surplus made AZN 467.1 million, accounting for 4.9% of GDP, said the State Statistical Committee.

The budget incomes and expenditure down by 3%, 15.7% and the surplus rose by 2.7 times compared with a year ago.

Tax incomes came 36.8% from VAT, 30.8% from corporate profit tax, 10.9% from income tax, 10.2% from excise tax and 4.7% from foreign economic activities.


Expenditure went AZN 707.6 mln (35.8%) to investments in the national economy, AZN 342 mln (17.3%) to social protection and security and AZN 299.2 mln (15.1%) to education and healthcare.

Salaries earned by the population accounted for 37.5% (AZN 742.1 mln) of the total expenditure.
