Azerbaijan posts three-fold decline in foreign trade

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade with 129 nations during January-August totalled $12 407.7 million, including exports of $8 584.5 million (69.2%) and imports of $3 823.2 million (30.8%), said the State Statistical Committee.

The trade surplus was $4 761.3 million for this period.

Compared to the same period last year, foreign trade turnover decreased by a factor of 3.4, exports by a factor of 4.4 and imports by 15.1%.

Foreign trade surplus plunged by a factor of 7.

The country’s main trade partners included Italy (16.9%), the United States (9.6%), Russia (8.6%), France (7.1%), Israel (5.6%), Turkey (5.4%), Canada (3.5%), Germany (3.3%), Taiwan (3.3), the United Kingdom (3.2%), China (3%), Indonesia (2.9%), Ukraine (2.8%), Georgia (2.5%), Malaysia (2.3), and other countries 19.7%.
