Azerbaijan sees bank assets up 3.4%

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. As of September 1, Azerbaijan-based commercial banks’ assets reached AZN 10 625.38 million, up 3.43% or AZN 351.92 million from early this year, said Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to statistics, bank assets grew by 3.3% or AZN 338.94 million during August. Assets started to increase after declining by AZN 1 458.5 million during the first quarter.

Loans to customers accounted for 67.83%, correspondent accounts 7.68%, investment 7.07%, cash funds 3.64%, deposits and loans to the financial sector 4.42%, and other assets 9.37% of the total bank assets.

Bank obligations accounted for 81.93% of AZN 8 705.17 million liabilities.

Deposits made up AZN 4 023.39 million of the obligations, leaving AZN 3 726.90 million to loans and deposits from the financial sector and AZN 954.88 million to other obligations.

The banks’ total capital grew by 12.6% to AZN 1 920.20 million.
