Azerbaijan will increase social expenditures next year

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan’s state budget revenues for 2010 will be 10.015 billion manats or 31.5% of GDP, said Finance Minister Samir Sharifov.

He said the state budget expenditures for 2010 will amount to 11.264 billion manats or 35.4% of GDP.

As to the expenditure breakdown, current expenses are projected to be 6 792.2 million manats or 60.3% of total costs, capital expenditures - 4 386.3 million mnats (38.9 %), government debt service – 85.5 million AZN (0.8%).

The share of social spending is expected to account for 34.4% (3.878 billion manats), up 1.8 percentage points on the current year.

He added that the special programs and activities is projected to spend 39% of the total cost, or 4 387.3 million manats.

The minister also noted that the proportion of expenditure on social protection and welfare will increase by 1.4 percentage points to 10.6%, the proportion of education spending - by 0.3 percentage points to 11.3%, healthcare spending - by 0.2 percentage points to 4.3%, culture, arts and media spending - by 0.1 percentage points to 3.4%, housing and communal services - by 0.1 percentage points to 1.8%.

The revenues and expenditure of the 2010 consolidated budget are predicted to be 11.885 billion manats, and 12.466 billion manata respectively, said the minister.
