Economic Research Center: Azerbaijan logs 0.59% inflation in July

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Consumer Price Index rose by 0.59 percent in Azerbaijan, including 0.47 percent in Baku and 0.71 percent in regions during July, according to the Economic Research Centerâ€™s report based on the Alternative Inflation Methodology Development Project.

The report is based on surveys on goods and services in 11 regions of the country.

According to the report, the price drop was 0.16 percent in foodstuffs, 0.86 percent in nonfoods while prices of services increased by 4.45 percent.

The Economic Research Center said the increase in service prices was caused by the Tariff Councilâ€™s decision to double the price of gas consumed by population.

According to statistics, the consumer prices change was 3.1% deflation for January-July and 3.16% deflation as against July 2008.
