Azerbaijan-Latvia Intergovernmental Commission meets in Baku - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION </font>

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The Azerbaijan-Latvia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Technical and Cultural Issues has today met in Baku.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov, who is a co-chair of the commission, praised the development of relations between the two countries.

“Several documents were signed to expand cooperation. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Latvia has doubled amid improving relations. I hope our relations will further expand in coming years,” he added.

He briefed the participants of Azerbaijan’s economic performance and new infrastructure projects.

He pointed to agriculture, transportation, tourism and capital investment as promising areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Latvian Minister Transport Kaspars Gerhards, who is a co-chair of the commission, added that trade turnover between the two countries increased by 60.1% in 2008 and 57% in the first five months of 2009.

“Our cooperation is developing at a steady rate. There is good potential to further boost relations in the fields of trade, light industry, energy, finance, tourism, transport, logistics and other sectors” he noted.

The meeting will conclude with a protocol.
