Azerbaijan and Latvia discuss financial cooperation

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) has today hosted a roundtable, bringing together officials, and representatives of banks and other institutions of Azerbaijan and Latvia.

AIC Executive Director Afgan Isayev briefed the participants about main functions of AIC, investment opportunities in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector, current situation of the financial and banking sectors, and called on the Latvian financiers to cooperate with AIC, local businesses banks in business investments in different segments of the non-oil sector.

“We don’t act as a major investor, and joint investments are more appealing for other investors. Latvian financial institutions can set up businesses and make investment in promising areas here,” he added.

The Latvian representatives mainly talked about the trade finance and financial consulting services, saying their country is in difficult financial situation.

Both sides expressed willingness to develop promising cooperation in various fields and continue to promote the relations.
