Capital adequacy ratio rises in Azeri banking system

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. As of July 1, total capital adequacy ratio has reached 19.5% in Azerbaijan’s banking system, said the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

Acordign to the report, given that the figure rose by 1 percentage point over the past year, it dropped by 0.1 percentage points since the beginning of the year and increased by 0.3 percentage points in the second quarter.

Total capital adequacy ratio is calculated as the ratio of total capital to risk-weighted assets.

In general, the ratio of total capital adequacy in the banking system in Azerbaijan could be considered high, and the main reason for this is a precautionary approach by banks.
