Azerbaijan-based banks see assets grow

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. As of June 1, Azerbaijan-based commercial banksâ€™ assets stood at AZN 9 129.8 million, up 9.9% from a year ago, said the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

However, the assets of commercial banks decreased by AZN 1 143.7 million or 11.1% since the beginning of the year due to the impact of global financial crisis.

The decline in assets persisted in January-March and assets dropped by AZN 1 458.5 million during the first quarter. Assets grew by AZN 184.2 million in April and AZN 130.6 million in April.
