Azerbaijan’s foreign trade plunges 7.4% in real terms

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade with 117 nations during January-April totalled $5 354.3 million, including exports of $3 537.1 million and imports of $1 817.2 million, said the State Statistical Committee.

The trade surplus was $1 719.9 million for the first quarter.

Compared to the same month last year, foreign trade turnover decreased by 7.4%, exports dropped by 8.3% and import dropped by 5.6% in real terms.
In comparative terms, the decease was 4.9%, 3.9% and 7.4% respectively.

Azerbaijan carried out 44.8% of the trade, including 29.7% of imports and 52.6% of exports with the European Union.

Trade with the member states of GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development reached $361.4 million (imports $183.5 million and exports $177.9 million).

The country’s main trade partners included Italy (22%), the United States (9.7%), Russia (8%), France (7.8%), Israel (5.5%), Turkey (4.8%), Germany (4.3%), Ukraine (3.4%), Georgia (3.4%), the United Kingdom (2.6%), Canada (2.5%), Indonesia (2.4%), South Korea (2.3%), China (1.9%) and other countries 19.4%.
