Azerbaijan industrial production index drops sharply in May

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijanâ€™s industrial production index (IPI), a measure of real production output, reached 131.1% in May, compared to 92.9% in April, according to APA-Economics calculations on data released by the State Statistical Committee.

This index accounts for the bulk of the variation in national output over the duration of business cycle, i.e. industrial output for May in value terms (AZN 1 835.2 million) divided by industrial output for April (AZN 1 399.9 million).

Industrial production index was 131.9% for non-oil sector in May, compared to 79.7% in April.

The State Statistical Committee said AZN 7 412.5 million worth of industrial output and services were produced during January-May, up 1.3% on the same period last year.
