Azerbaijan state budget surplus reaches 2.9% of GDP

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijanâ€™s state budget revenue was AZN 3.2 billion for January-April 2009, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, the budget expenditure reached AZN 3 billion, up 39.5% from a year ago. Budget surplus made AZN 261.8 million, accounting for 2.9% of GDP.

Tax incomes came 46.6% from VAT, 26.4% from corporate profit tax, 12.4% from income tax, 4.8% from excise tax and 4.6% from foreign economic activities.

Expenditure went 47.2% to investments in the national economy, 12.7% to social protection and security and 13.6% to education and healthcare.

Salaries earned by the population accounted for 30.3% of the total expenditure.
