EU-Azerbaijan Sub Committee on Trade, Economic and related legal issues meets in Baku

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. The EU-Azerbaijan Sub Committee on Trade, Economic and related legal issues took place in Baku on June 17 at the Ministry of Economic Development.

The meeting was joined by representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Taxation, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Energy, Central Bank of Azerbaijan, State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents, State Customs Committee, State Committee on Property Issues, State Statistical Committee, State Procurement Agency, Agency for Copyright, as well as a delegation led by Alan Waddams, Ambassador & Head of European Commission Office in Baku.

A wide range of subjects, including investment climate in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan’s WTO accession and general macroeconomic developments, prospects for promotion of trade relations and cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that in the effective use of foreign exchange reserves, strengthening of state support for enterprise, increase of financial discipline, maintenance of the stability of the nation currency and improvement of the investment environment in the country helped neutralize the impact of global crisis on the national economy.

In addition, the participants discussed the issues of bringing national legislation with the EU requirements.
