Government securities market slumps in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan saw a decline in the government securities market from January to May 2009, said the State Committee for Securities.

According to statistics, 2 178 397 770 manats worth of 493 transactions were concluded against 3 410 934 763 manats worth of 939 transactions in the same period last year.

333 836 932 manats worth of 100 deals on government bonds were closed, up 2.3 times from a year ago.

The volume of transactions on the Central Bankâ€™s notes fell by 4 times.

1 069 264 011 manats worth of transactions were registered against 267 670 636 manats in the same period last year.
