Azerbaijan reports 18-fold rise in GDP

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-ECONOMICS. Gross domestic product – the output of goods and services produced by labor and property in Azerbaijan, grew by 17.8 fold over a period of 14 years, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to statistics, the country’s GDP reached AZN 38 005.7 million ($46 258.2 million) at the end of 2008 given that the figure made AZN 2 133.8 million ($2 415.2 million) in 1995.

GDP per capital jumped by 15.7-fold from AZN 282.1 ($319.3) in 1995 to AZN 4 439.9 ($5 403.9) in 2008.

GDP grew by 4.1% year-on-year during the first quarter 2009 to AZN 6.7 billion ($8.3 billion).

GDP per capital increased by 2.9% to AZN 782 (971.5).
