Azerbaijan posts 31% rise in 1Q foreign trade

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with 108 nations during January totaled $3.8 billion, including exports of $2.5 billion (65.2%) and imports of $1.3 billion (34.8%), said the State Statistical Committee.

The trade surplus was $1.2 billion.

As against the same period last year, foreign trade turnover rose by 31.3%, imports went down by 2.3% and exports increased by 1.6 times.

Azerbaijan carried out 45.6% of the trade with the European Union, 16.5% with the CIS countries and 37.9% with other countries.

The country did 58.5% of the trade with Europe, 28% with Asia, 13.3% with Americas, 0.1% with Africa and 0.1% with Oceania.

The country’s main trade partners in imports and exports (80.5%) included Italy, France, the United States, Russia, Germany, Israel, Turkey, Canada, Georgia, Ukraine, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Indonesia.
