Latvian Foreign Minister: â€œEconomic relations with Azerbaijan are developing in positive directionâ€

Baku. Viktoria Dementieva â€“ APA. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Latvia made up $15 million in 2008, APA reports. Latvian Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins said economic-commercial relations between the countries were improving in positive direction, trade turnover was increasing.
â€œEconomic relations are developing in positive direction, Latvian entrepreneurs, who came to Baku and attended the business forum, are interested in Azerbaijanâ€™s economy. As regards commercial relations between our countries, I should note that despite the world economic crisis, trade turnover between our countries increased last year. It concerns both import and export. We would like to gain better results. There are prospects and I think this forum will bring out these prospects. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Latvia made up $15 million. At first view this figure can be considered little, but taking into account that we began to move towards this figure only a few years ago, then we can say $15 million is not little. We will continue this work. Latvia is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of high technologies, food industry and banking sector,â€ he said.
