Azerbaijan says new loans are on decline

Baku. Vugar Israfilov â€“ APA-Economics. Loans lent by Azerbaijan-based banks and non-bank lending institutions during February totaled AZN 67.3 million, said the National Bank of Azerbaijan.

Loans lent during January-February amounted to AZN 537.4 million, own 57% from a year ago.

The amount of new loans dropped by 7-fold on the month-on-month basis during February.

The central bank attributed the decline to the fact that repayment of loans reached AZN 1 541.7 million.

Loan investment rose by 39.1%, year-over-year, to AZN 6 692.5 million.
The amount of loan investment accounted for 36.2% of GDP (non-oil sector).
