Azerbaijan will host ECO Privatization Administration meeting

Baku. Vugar Israfilov - APA-Economics. Baku will be hosting the 4th meeting of heads of privatization authorities of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, said Azerbaijan State Property Management Committee.
Besides, the 3rd meeting of the ECO senior experts for the private sector development will take place on May 20-22.
Meetings are organized to share experiences among ECO member countries in the field of privatization and attracting foreign investment through privatization.
The 1st meeting of heads of privatization authorities of the member states was held in Tehran in 2004, the second in Islamabad in 2007 and the third in Antalya in 2008.
The ECO is an intergovernmental international organization involving seven Asian and three Eurasian nations. It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade, and investment opportunities. The common objective is to establish a single market for goods and services
The organization was established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. It was the successor organization of what was the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD), founded in 1962, which ended activities in 1979. In the fall of 1992, the ECO expanded to include seven new members, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
