Azerbaijan-based cbanks sees a 5% rise in total capital

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of March 1, Azerbaijan-based commercial banksâ€™ total capital stood at AZN 1 567.8 million, up 43.2% on a year ago, said National Bank of Azerbaijan.
According to the statistics, the banksâ€™ total capital grew by 5.1% or AZN 76.1 million during January-February, and 3.3% or AZN 50.6 million in February alone.
The growth in February exceeds average monthly growth of AZN 40.2 million during 2008 by 26%.
However, assets decreased by 7.7%, total loan portfolio by 7.2% and personal deposits by 4.7% during January-February.
