If a two-month ceasefire is achieved, Ukraine can theoretically hold elections, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, APA reports.

"I think our partners should answer one question: what do they want? Do they want real elections or do they just want to replace me? I think the Russians just want to replace me. There is a civilized way to do this - elections. But you can't influence people, they should choose who they live with," Zelensky said.

Zelensky stressed that if Washington can bring peace to Ukraine, it will never block certain US election proposals.

"If we have a two-month ceasefire to hold elections, I will do everything in my power to talk to parliament and convince them to hold elections during a war that they do not support - even the public does not support. Even if a two-month ceasefire is achieved, this does not mean the end of the war," Zelensky added.

At the same time, the president emphasized that for this, people must express their position on the issue of peace in a referendum, and parliament must make changes to the current legislation.
