Baku-APA. Turkey's health sector staffers went on a one-day strike across the country on Friday to demand better working conditions and higher wages.
The health workers staged protest rallies in the country's big provinces like Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The workers called for providing equal, efficient and free health services for all citizens.
The Istanbul chamber of doctors urged in a written statement the government to improve the working conditions and to raise the basic wages.
The health sector workers have been working under though conditions for long hours, Turk Health Union General Director Onder Kahveci said.
He added that some health staff have lost their lives due to violence against them by the relatives of the patients, epidemics and accidents of the ambulances.
