"The latest developments, including the sacking of police chiefs and the instructions to police to inform authorities on investigations, raise serious concerns as regards the independence, efficiency and impartiality of the investigations and the separation of powers," said a spokesman for Štefan Füle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement.

Co-chair of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for the East of England, Andrew Duff accused the EU of remaining silent regarding corruption and bribery investigation in Turkey. “Media under attack, foreigners accused, but corrupt ministers stay on. Where can this be?” he wrote on his Twitter account.
