Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. The European Union is in need of Turkey, while Turkey is free of need of the EU, Yalcin Topcu, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's chief advisor, told reporters in Baku Nov. 21.
“The EU is badly in need of Turkey’s surface and underground resources, historical values, and human resources. If EU countries wish to cooperate in the tourism sector with Asia, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Africa, and build cultural ties with them, let them know that Turkey is the key to this,” he said.
Topcu noted that Turkey is the key to security, independence, and well-being in Asia, the Middle East, the Balkans, and Africa.
“Cooperation with Turkey can only benefit the EU. But what we see is, the EU is only spoiling relations with Turkey,” he added.
The presidential said that the current government and state of Turkey have noticed this intention of EU countries made certain of them backing terrorists organizations who plan to tear Turkey apart.
“If we look for countries financing either PKK, or ISIL and FETO terrorist organizations, we will see those are the countries which allegedly claim to be strategic partner of us within NATO and the European Union. All weapons of the terrorist organizations are of those countries,” he said, adding. “In Germany, PKK terrorist organization has 4,500 members and robbers who are in red notice wanted list. There is a murderer in Belgium, the center of the European Union, who killed a Turkish businessman. Belgium doesn’t hand over that murderer to Turkey for years. The friendship of the EU countries with Turkey is at this level. Despite Turkey’s fight against the separatist terrorist organization, EU countries support and protect PKK. Among them are NATO members as well.”
The presidential adviser noted that the future of Turkey-EU ties will depend on what kind of steps EU countries will take in relation to Turkey in the fight against terrorism.
"The Turkish state and people owe nothing to the European Union,” he added.
